John Peters Humphrey was from New Brunswick.
John Peters Humphrey, a native of New Brunswick, was the principal author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He wrote the first draft of what eventually became perhaps the most important human rights document in contemporary history. In the following decades, Humphrey devoted his life to advancing human rights at the United Nations and as an academic and rights advocate in Canada.
